just did jdm gsr swap...from the begining it was a little hard to get into reverse. one morning i try to back out of the garage and just cant get it in the gear at all. shop looked at it. everythings hooked up fine. its inside the tranny. any ideas guys?

 

The synchros are probably gone.

I will also agree. i know my synchros are doing in my tranny(its not a gsr) but i usually have to push the clutch in 2 or 3 times before it will go in.

 

i thought reverse doesnt have syncro's? anywho the reverse is a straight cut gear try letting the clutch out really slowly while trying to put it in reverse, thats what i have to do so the gears line up

 

There is no reverse synchro

 

what shift linkage did u use??? does it go into reverse when the car is not running

Shut up. You don't know anything about transmissions at all. You don't even know what a synchro is, or what it even looks like.

Reverse is NOT a synchronized gear because you do not enter it while moving.

 

it didn't even want to go in after putting it in a forward gear first?

 

Well, I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you probably aren't comfortable with tearing into a trans and don't have the right tools either. If I was you, I would take the car into the dealership (not as expensive as everyone thinks and they have FACTORY TRAINED and CERTIFIED techs) and have them take a look at it.

 

everythings hooked up fine...i duno about going to the dealer....thats gonna be pricy because they are gonna have to open up the tranny....if its not the synchros wat would you guys say it is?
