hey so my engine light comes on about 2 times a day...i have taken it to REGULATE and the guy there told me that my thotle body was bad but cortney said that it would not make my engine light come on...so what would make it come on? and then make it go off?

 

Try pulling the code from the ecu. That will help you figure out what the problem is

Have you tried the paperclip trick? Take a paperclip, undo it so it is a "U" shape.

Near the ecu you will find a plug with a green and a brown wire coming out of it. If you've never pulled the code, there might be a neon green rubberish cover on the plug. If you look at the plug, there will be two holes. Stick the paperclip in each whole so you "complete the circuit." Put the key in the ignition and turn it to "ON." If you did it right, you'll see the "Check Engine Light" start flashing.

Long flashes = 1st digit

Short flashes = 2nd digit

For example !..........!!.........!.........!! = 12

 

if your check engine light comes on while slowing down in gear it might be your vss i have the same problem i was told that when slowing in gear the vss will throw a code as precaution i dont know if this is correct just what i was told

 

A check engine light will come on for lots of things. Pulling the code will tell you why... to a certain extent.
