so i have an h22a1 on an ek but for some reason vtec is not kicking in..

i tried doing as much research as i can by looking at old posts so here is what i checked..

oil is filled all the way up..
i cleaned filter on the solenoid..
i checked to see if solenoid works and it does..

i just recently tried seeing if there might be problems with the ecu... so here is where my other question comes in..

there are two sensors on the vtec solenoid right? the vtec pressure valve (green one) and vtec spool solenoid valve.. so i unplugged both of them and tried to see if it would throw a code.. and it did.. but only for the vtec pressure valve (code 22) and not the vtec spool solenoid valve (code 21)...

but my ecu should also be throwing a code for the vtec spool solenoid valve right (code 21)? cuz its not plugged in right?

so i am really confused about this.. could this be the problem with me not being able to hit vtec?

any suggestions? or experiences with this problem?

you car has to be warmed up

 

yes.. speedometer and tach work.. does that help engage vtec?

 

hey bro have u check your knock sensor yet cause the same thing happened to mine. help that helps

yeah.. i checked it.. and plus its not throwing a code wen i checked it on ecu..

but on original question.. since i unplugged both sensors from the vtec solenoid.. both sensors should be throwing a code right? the sensors i was talkin about was the vtec spool solenoid sensor (code 21) and vtec pressure valve (code22)...
