Sounds like he used E85. Honda doesn't make any "Flex-Fuel" engines, so I don't know if you may have done more damage than good, all just because E85 is cheaper than gas.

When they first introduced MTBE into gasoline, I noticed that my GSR and other vehicles with higher compression had a burning plastic smell from the exhaust. These EPA mandated additives are a band-aid to address the 1% of vehicles on the road that emit 90% of the air pollution. For well designed vehicles with good emissions systems, these additives simply rob power and lower fuel efficiency.

i used it once when i was runin on fumes and thats all the gas station i pulled up to had i only put 5 bucks in just enough to make it to base where they have higher octane gas and lower prices. But it felt strong and wasnt eating thru the gas.

Theres no way they converted EVERY pump to 85%ethanol. Only a select few "Flex fuel" fords and gm automobiles came with the compatability to run that gas (could be more manufacturers but i am only aware of ford and gm). I def. wouldnt put it in my car...not made to run on that ****.

I think there's a misunderstanding in this thread. The original poster is not referring to filling the car with E85. He is talking about the newly formulated gasoline that has recently been phased into service in many areas (some were already using the ethanol blend), which uses a percentage of ethanol as a replacement for a former additive called MTBE.

In response to the original poster, I have not noticed any issues with my engine's operation or economy. It's possible that you received a bad tank of fuel, but I wouldn't be overly concerned.
