CA people, will this get me out of smoging my cars, legally
So i was on the DMV website today, trying to find info about registering my car. When i ran accross this http://www.smogcheck.ca.gov/ft...p.pdf showing certain counties in CA that dont require a smog check every 2 years.
So i started thinking what if i just register my car to a PO box in one of those counties? I'm looking at the back of my title & it has an area for address & an area for mailing address (it says PO boxes are allowed also).
So could i just put the PO box address in the "address" section & then put my home address in the mailing address section? Would this work in qualifying my cars to not have to be smoged every 2 years. Or would they go off my mailing address i put down. Because if i put the PO box as my mailing address too, i really dont want to drive about 3 hours to the nearest "non-smog" county to pick up my registration when it comes.
Has anyone done this, does it work?
If it works it would be worth it to me because i have 2 civics, my SI requires about a full days work to pass smog & then a full days work to return it back to its better state, plus the price i pay to have it re-dyno tuned afterwards. & now i have an eg that i plan on swapping the motor & really dont want to deal with the whole BAR thing.
-thanks

Well almost. you have to have residence in that city. not just a P.O.Box. Do you have a cousin that lives there. Realize that this address needs to be on the reg.
Enhanced = dyno smog or AWD/traction control= two speed idle
Basic = two speed idle
And last is just for change of ownership or first time register
I wish it was that easy.

i figured my idea was too good to be true. oh well.
