Is factory oil pressure sensor needed if running aftermarket sensor.

Is factory oil pressure sensor needed if running aftermarket sensor.
I will be running a greddy oil pressure gauge and sensor i was thinking of not installing factory sensor and just installing greddy sensor in the factory location just want to know if anybody else has this or simular set up.
