VSS obd0->obd1 questions
My obd1 swap will happen very soon... like in a week.
I'm a bit confused though about the VSS and how to get it to work with the cable driven speedometer.
On another thread someone said:

That didn't help with my confusion.
So, can anyone tell me, in simple terms, what I need to do to ensure that the speedometer works after I switch to obd1?
Or should I just get the cluster out of the 94 integra in the junkyard and wire it up now?

you dont need the 94 integra cluster or whatever else..
just keep it how it is now with the stock vss,stock cable and cluster..why wouldnt it work? do you really think everyone that converts to obd1 in our cars converts to a different cluster and runs an electric vss ??

No, but the issue of mechanical vs. electronic has me a bit confused. In some applications I will be wanting to actually tap into the VSS (installing cruise control, etc.). It seems as though not much information is written on this.
SVOBoy's post (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread/1626018), for example, left him with the response above saving that a 5v reference needs to be run, but this makes little sense to me.

Just Use a cable VSS< I believe any d series one will swap out for your electric vss. The cable goes into the back of the speedo, then something reads how fast it is spinning and sends a signal back to the ecu. I think you could just tap that wire and it would have the same effect asa running a electroni VSS and taping thaty wire. Hopefully someone here can chime in as to what wire it is that goes BACK to the ECU from the cluster?

I didn't say a 5v reference needed to be run. I asked if he had a 5v reference voltage on the vss line trying to help diagnose the problem.

Thanks for the clarification.
