Default JE/SRP pistons D16A6 D16Z6

Okay I was looking for low compression pistons for my build and was stuck.
The D16A6 block is available in 8.5:1, 9.5:1 and higher.
The D16Z6 block is available in 9.0:1 and higher

Well I am running a a6 block with z6 head and looking for turbo. So I called to find out whats up with the piston numbers and I want to share what I found out.

If you run the 8.5:1 pistons for the a6 with the z6 head you will end up with a 9.1:1 compression ratio running a 0.051 thick head gasket. You could possibly lower the ratio with a thicker head gasket.

I just wanted to share this with anyone interested otherwise I found that calling SRP for questions the guy was very helpful in finding the answer I needed.

I was thinking about doing the a6 with z6 head mini me but I was wondering what kind of problems you have run into doing that.... how was the actual swap? do you have to change the pistons also or is that only for your turbo? did you notice much of a hp increase? sorry for the 20 q's but isint that what this place is for?

thanks for your help.

I just moved so my block is sitting on a stand and my head is in teardown mode. Not sure what numbers yet but a guy in town just got his dyno running and is going to give me free dyno this fall. I will definately be putting numbers up here.

Also I am still researching some options for little things. Otherwise I don't expect much problems with this swap.
