Default Enkei RPF1 info request...

I'm looking to get set of Enkei RPF1 17 x 8 all around with 38 offset all around. My first question is:

1. It's 17 x 8 with 38 offset good for a S2000?

2. What size tires would I need? (Front and Rear)

3. After tires size would I need my fenders rolled?

Please give any info you have. Thanks in advance.

Yea saw it already. Didn't he add to rolled his fenders to get those 18inchs to fit without rubbing.

if i were to run these wheels (i might though) i'd run aggressive offsets because im kew like that.

In order to run those offsets, you will be needing to do a pull on the rears if you wanna run the 8.5 +40 to fit a 245/255. If you want to keep stock body, you might have to give up some patch and run a stretched tire in the rear which will probably be about a 225/235. For the 7.5's, a 215 will probably do you good.

don't think about doing a 9' +35 because that isn't going to work unless you do a super crazy *** pull on the rear, or get wider fenders.

hope that helps.

8.5 +40 in the rear MIGHT work

I'd do 17x7.5 +48 17x8.5 +40. I wanted those for my S2000 but ended up just powdercoating the stocks black. Definately sweet wheels though, I think I might throw them on my project hatch

It'll work if he runs a stretched tire. Im pretty sure, a 245/255 won't go in there unless he's rolled. 235 is a possibility. If not, he'll rub.

Well, now that i think about it, This is possible. We were able to do a 9.5 + 40 for one of my s2 customers. That should be pretty equivalent to a 9" +35, with about a 1mm difference. All we did was run a 245 + rolled fenders. To be on the safe side, you should add some negative camber while your at it if you run this aggressive of offset. With a little more time and effort, you should look at other peoples wheel set up to get a glimpse of what to look for. Just make sure you know what your doing

What do mean when you said: It'll work if he runs a stretched tire.

Running a narrower tire and you usually do. Like putting 245s on a 9" wide wheel. A waste if you ask me, plus there's less protection for the wheel.

Projekt is correct though. The stretched tire look is more for aesthetic reasons. You WILL lose contact patch but i think it looks hard as a mother *****. haha.

I personally like the stretched look. If you see in that pic from the eibach meet, the tires on the silverstone cave in so it doesn't hit the fender. Usually for clearance/Looks. Kinda like this....

Stretched = ( ) ( ) Vs Regualar [ ] [ ]

i have those exact same tires on my S. Those BF Goodrich's run 2 sizes bigger than what they say. ie: a 255 (what i have) is actually a 275. They are auto-X cheater tires. They woudl probably not rub in the back if the tires werent so big and the sidewalls werent so bulgy.

245 tires on a 9.5 wheel.. now that's a waste. 285/30/18 FTW.

I'm sorry, but a lesser width tire stretched over a wider wheel is NOT just for looks!

You ever wonder why you see so many cars that are setup to drift with their tires/wheels in this fashion? A stretched tire is used to prevent tire ROLLOVER and it works quite well. Nothing will make a car understeer like tire rollover. Auto-xers have been doing this for years, although most would prefer the correct size tire with a reinforced sidewall, along with roadracers. Not only does it prevent tire rollover but it's also helps with issues of tire to fender clearance.

Of course. thas understood, But I never said that It WAS just for Looks. Pretty much a high percentage of all the guys that compete in the D1GP have stretched tires and yes they are indeed to prevent tire rollover. I should know, because I have a D1 driver

That being said, thats why soo many people that run stretched tires want to achieve that "IM FLUSHED" look, or acquire tire fender clearance.

Like i stated previously...

I know the purpose of it. I rather have stiff sidewalled tires AND rollover. It will protect my wheel if I do drop it off the track, which I do pretty often anyways, or in a pothole. And I doubt those Do-Luck wheels will ever see an auto-x. I run +1 tire sizing and have never rubbed.

and you are correct. im pretty sure it'll never see a day a day at a track with those wheels at all. maybe some spirited driving though.

I check Enkei again and they make a 16x7 with a +43 offset and I know it's not a good upgrade for an S2000. But what do you guys think of the size and offset?

BTW if I need to go with the 17x8.5 with 40 offset in the rear I found a shop that could rolled my rear fenders.

16's are very light weight of course and thas a +, but if you plan on running 7's all around, Don't even think about it. Your car is meant for staggered for a reason so degrading it would be a no-no.

If you found a shop that'll roll your fenders, then I say you should take advantage of it. You'll have much more clearance for a fattier tire and your car would be in reccommended contact patch or if not, gain.
