Default VTEC Cuts off 96 cord H22A OBD1 HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my problem is i have a 96 cord with a JDM H22a OBD1 and for sum reason my vtec kiks when it wants to kick and when it doesnt kick it postes up a CEL light which says oil pressure switch. Ive put more oil in it but then it seems to be the same. Lets say ive just warmed up the car and then i punch it vtec kicks fine but then once i keep on driveing for about 30 mins and then i try to punch it agian once it hits 5000 rpm just no VTEC i'll get lucky if VTEC kiks in later before it kicks in it seems like it is trying to switch on but then something wont lock the lobes. But when i had my OBD2 ecu hooked up i had vtec all the time but the down side of that ecu is that it causes my motor to misfire which blew my last h22 up. so i stuck with the JDM p13 i dont know but i need help. My friend says i should find a better ground for my vtec because as of now the vtec ground is mounted on the block. Do u guys think i need a vtec controller? HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! its driving me CRAZY!!!!!!!!
