never, you shouldn't run your car to full empty anyways, you will clog up yoru fuel injectors by the dirty stuff in the bottom of your tank.

btw...how many miles are you supposed to able to go with the gas light on? i'd imagine it's not too many!

 

well, i know that when the gas light comes on in my car, i have about 1.5 gallons left...

 

I recall my owners manual saying 2 gallons when the light first glows, so that should be at least good for 50 highway miles.
Still, no matter how much I let it run down, I've never gotten more than 15 gallons into that 17.3 gallon tank. Or maybe it's the entire fuel system capacity that's 17.3... I forget.

 

i never fillup more than 7 gallons at a time,...unless im on long trips...

 

You must have a lot of free time to waste if you've ran out of gas 4-times. Driving to a gas station is much quicker than walking. I've only seen my fuel light blink at me 1 time, and seldom let it get below 1/4 tank.

I have a great strategy for not running out of gas...you may want to give it a try. Here it is: when you are running low on gas, buy more and put it in your tank.

 

I've filled my tank up with 16.1 gallons... when the gas light comes on, i usually fill it up with 14.5 - 15 gallons... i thought the maximum capacity for 5G was 16 gallons, but i'm not 100% sure...

 

It is good to fill-er-up, for the fuel pump depends on fuel for lubrication. If the tank is eternally low on gas, the fuel pump is not getting lubed.

 

My guage never goes below the red. I've once stalled on the highway with only 222 on that tank! I carry a 1 gallon gas can with me now. I dont fill up too often because I get my **** for free. So I can only do it once every so often. BTW, I dont walk.

 

Ive never run out of gas, when it drops below 1/4 tank i fill up to about 3/4 or a full tank maybe once out of every 10 fill ups or unless im going on a trip.

 

Dont think this is an issue with a filter before the pump and one before the rail. I'd worry more about the lean condition you run at the last mile or so.

 

I have never ran out of gas. I think my accords fuel light comes on early since I fill it up when the light comes on the first time if possible and it takes 13.5 gallons to fill it up usually.
