Vibration in first gear and hard shifting in second!!!
Alright guys, here we go. I recently replaced my clutch and pressure plate, for the first 2 days or so, it drove great. When the clutch started to break in the car would vibrate really bad trying to take off in first gear, it acted like there were bad motor mounts. There were bad mounts, they were bad before the clutch replacement. I had this vibration problem occassionally before this so I don't believe it to be an installation mistake. I thought that since the new clutch bit so hard that the motor was just shaking due to the broken mount. Also, it does it a little worse in reverse and sometimes will make one loud clanking noise as you can feel the motor shifting. I replaced the mount this morning and to my dismay, the problem was still there. I can make the car take off without this problem but Ii have to ride the clutch to get moving. The car shifts great into all other gears, just sometimes second is a hard shift. Clutch works great though, goes into all gears very smoothly. This problem also happened with my old transmission, which I replaced 4 days before the clutch broke. All motor mounts seem to be tight, no missing trans. bolts and they are all tight. Any ideas guys?? Help is always greatly appreciated. Thanks, Brian

Please remember that I had this problem also with my old clutch and a different transmission. This clutch is definitely better than my old one if that's where your looking to.

Why being hostile? All you have to do is just ask.
I believe it to be a ceramic metallic it says something about a carbotic disc on spring hub. It is a 6 puck by the way also.
Thanks again

I've read on a few websites that it's just something that I have to learn to deal with and learn to drive this new setup. Is this possible?

I guess that I should just dump the clutch every where I go ? Just kidding by the way. But seriously maybe a little more aggressive on the starts would stop this?
I'm not being hostile.....I'm just a smart ***.....
A 6-puck clutch.....you are just experiencing clutch chatter. I have one in my civic and when it was new, it would chatter something fierce all the time in first gear and reverse. Its better now, but still chatters from time to time. Since the disc is sprung, the chatter and vibration are worse, but the sprung disc is easier on your tranny and driveline.
Its just something you have to live with. More throttle while you engage first, and doing it quicker usually makes things more smooth for me.

Ok cool. Did you say yours eventually got better or eventually went away? And if so, was it because of break in or because of learning to drive the new setup? Also, is there a risk of anything possibly breaking while chatter, or should I just shutup and drive? I also floored it for the first time last night and spanked a bored D16 DelSol three times, the third time I even missed a gear.....lol....just takes getting used to.
The chatter gets better, and its a combination of being able to drive it better and also wearing in. It wont break anything in the driveline....the solid hubs are what normally break things in your driveline.
i bet u its your axel im in the shoes u are my axel are not in all the way does the same thing
I am experiencing the same thing here. Check my signature. The clutch and flywheel is installed 6 days exaclty and am experiencing massive vibration when in 1st gear and especially when turning right. I'll jack the car to check if all is still well bolted. I'll update this tomorrow or in the weekend.
That pressure plate you have is harsh on daily driving, but like stated early harsh on the drivetrain and tranny. But it doesn't slip in my opinion. I'm taking about the act extreme pressure plate and six puck clutch.
