can The Stock Type R Hold 10lbs Boost
i had swap an 00 jdm R in an 93 del sol SI with GSR suspension F/R .. and now i wanna go boost.. some of my friend suggest JE piston and rings , and BuDDy CLub killer Cam, and bore out the block ..do u guy kno what's the price to take the block to the machine shop and bore it ? and the main question can the stock type R hold 10lbs boost
Dont even bother to do that just to run 10psi.
Stock TypeR motor should handle 10psi fine, being that the motor is in good health, and that you have a proper tune and maintenance on it.

But you really shouldn't need all that big of a turbo for some nice power. You should'nt be concerned so much with boost psi, because different turbos will flow different amounts at the same boost pressure. Give an hp or whp goal and you will get better answers. Also, give more info on how you will be driving your car (street, strip, bit of both), chances are though you will not be using a big turbo with the compression you would have in an R as you probably won't need one. Seems a lot of people use the gt28r or rs in higher comp motors. So give us some more info and GL.

You can run 10 psi on an ITR no problem. Choose a tuner ( That has been around a while) and get a recomendation on turbo set up etc.

Funny to find you hear, I have been watching your teg for some time, read the story and good to see some updates.
10 psi on an R should be fine, but like stated b4 the turbo is very important as the diffirences in turbo can be like 100 wheel hp at the same 10psi. Good Luck

hey Mr. Helsinki, was your R daily driven? Did you punch it alot? and most importantly, do you regret boosting the caR. Do you think its better to just drive it with i/h/e?

as long as the tune is conservative...there should be no worries...stock motor should hold up just fine...

i don't think anyone really regrets boosting their cars unless they ran into alot of problems....i have had my fair share overheating due fans polarity incorrect...leaking head, turbo clocking itself, smoking up due to bad oil seal, etc but in the end its all worth it once you hit boost its an addiction...i have had an all motor R setup CTR pistons Skunk S2, SMSP header 4.7 final drive its fun but its very limited

thats right, not all turbocharge is the same with same psi-bar
my small turbocharge make on 9psi 230 real hp..
the same setup with a other turbocharger on my frend makes around with same psi 264 hp more power????
but to big turbo is not good for small 1,6 ore 1,8 l vtec motor ??
biger the turbo ,slower cames the psi?? (5000 rms beginnst psi)
smaler charger ,faster cames psi?? (2500 rms beginns the psi)
on german cars (audi tt ) cames maximal psi power on 1500 rmp 10-11 psi??(neu turbocharger genaration)
same like turbo diesel tdi ore fsi VW golf

My car is daily driven from April to October..sometimes November, it's perfectly civilized and tuned for very stock-like drivability. I drive it very aggressively (I'm addicted to boosting..), do I 'punch' it a lot? hehe..as much as I can..
No regrets..I love it. You will too..high compression and boost is a beautiful thing, just make sure the tuning is conservative.

unless your beating on the car a turbo car will never be any less reliable than an N/A car. if you drive normally for 4 hours without boosting it then its not any different than driving a car without a turbo.

yes, bone stock internals..it went 40K miles of hard driving and over 100 1/4 mile pulls.
It lived it's first 3 years untuned, and about 1 year on Hondata.
I'm actually happy it lasted that long and very surprised.

I would say don't concentrate on psi but what specific HP level are you trying to reach. Each turbo flows a different volume of air (CFM's). It's just critical that you have a proper tune on the car.
NO matter if it's 1lbs or 30lbs a bad tune can screw up your motor
