2nd gen b16a
aight folks, my motor is ticking the LMA,s or vtec lifters are bugging the hell out of me...I got a deal on a b16a 2nd gen motor, 500canadian, pretty ok deal with intake manifold, and hes got p28 ecu and headers) for extra im asuming...
now wut do i need to get this baby running... do i have to go obd-1 and if so wut needs to be changed this is in a crx i got a 1st gen b16a in there now...

P28 is obd 1 right? cant remember
if so you need to convert. i think you can use either dizzy. just depending on if you want to re-wire
staying with OBD0:
use your ecu. just bolt it up : ). plug it in... put your dizzy on the block(if it fits dont remember).
upgrading to OBD1:
Make or buy a obd0->obd1 conversion harness.
using your distributor w/ obd1. rewire using your obd0 plugs. and wire it how the obd1 ecu wants it. plenty of info on HT i can find the info if you are having problems.
using his distributor. pull the plug off. and put yours on it. wire it properly.
DO NOT CUT THE WIRES. if you do not know how to remove the wire from the plug. search. if you cant find out how ask.
i dont think there are any other problems. alternator is the same isnt it?

no you don`t have to go obd-1. just use your injectors and dizzy and your ecu and everything will run fine . same harness and everything. i did the same thing and it`s the best upgrade i ever did . been runnin that motor for over 3.5 years and i can`t complain . i beat the hell outta it whenever i please and it just looks back and laughs at me.
p28 is umm obd1 ye... the car i think will run much better iwth the 2nd gen motor n obd1 wut u guys think it runs really hard now, beats up on b16a running same set up all the time...but i just wanan get rid of the noise n maybe a bit more power

a motor is just an air pump . the electronics you use to run it decides whether it`s obd-0 , 1 ,2 ,2a ,2b ........trust me i run this setup year round and not even i hickup . passes emissions perfect and runs like a champ . ran a 8.98 in the 1/8th at 92 mph .
why pull the motor when you can use prelude lmas?
I have the exact same problem. prelude lmas with a .04" washer is going to take care of that.
iirc prelude lmas cost $8 each and b16 lmas cost $35 each.

Sorry for somewhat jacking the thread...buts its related and this one seems soved......I have D16Y7 in my CRX HF.....running stock transmission. Its how i bout it and am now starting the process of swapping the motors. I have a 94 JDM B16A2 in my garage. I thought it would be cheaper to just buy everything i need from different places than to just buy the whole thing from hmotors...because i am most likely goin to get a 1st gen cable transmission since its cheaper and easier.
A friend said he'd sell me his cabled Ls transmission....would that be a smart choice??
My car now is still wired OBD-0....
What would you suggest runnin wire wise? conversion jumper harness?
What kind of knuckles are needed???would i need to change them reguardless of what transmission i get? Thanks

HF you need SI knuckles or just go 2000 si or sir knuckloes depends if ur canada or usa that will work.. n bigger brakes...

if u go Ls u car will not be as fast get ur self a j1orys1ory1 tranny trust me lsd hard to come by but well worth it...

thanks....i wasnt really clear on the knuckles question but its pretty much cleared up now. Will i need to buy a big brake kit or just get the new knucles and rotor and stuff (comes with bigger breaks???) What is this stuff i see like you need throttle cables from integra?? thanks
well u can get an integra throttle cable or just make a bracket which is wut i did then just drill holes n adjust it to ur old throttle cabble so it works... pretty ezz...ull see wut i mean when u try n bolt up the old bracket to theb16a manifold and its off...ye the civic si or sir front knuckes usually *** with the brakes n everything
