Default can you run a 90degrees silicone coupler off the turbo??????

i was wondering can you run a 90degrees silicone coupler off the turbo. would it hold up to the pressure coming off the turbo or would i have to run something metal to run a 90 off the turbo? will it withstand high boost?

I run one, and its not even a real coupler I don't think. You'll be fine.

Some people say that a sharp bend out of the compressor an help flow by 'knocking the spiral' out of the flow and letting it become laminar sooner. Im really not sure if this is true.

If anything, at least it's before the intercooler so the turbulance induced heat could be dealt with.

a smoother longer 90 would be the way to go, for air flow. However, sometimes you have to do what you have to do. I don't see any issues with it personaly.

cant be any worse than a back door intercooler. as long as it is a good coupler, you should be fine.

it worked fine for me just keep in mind that if the piping moves any it may kink the airflow some if your piping isn't secured real well just something to keep in mind

i'm just worry that a sharp 90 off the turbo mite not hold up in high boost. from what i read, i think i will be fine. it's a good quailty 90 from samco.

Well actually u might run into issues like we did. Silicon 90's cause alot more flex then usual.

A silicon bend will heat up and become alot more flexable. What happened with ours is that is was flexing under high boost (17~psi) and because of the 180bend at the intercooler, was pushing itself apart. This flex would not have happened with a metal 90 bend.

That said, if u use good silicon and tbolts/heavy duty screw clamps and lipped piping, you shouldnt run into trouble.

you will be ok with it.. hell my charge pipe is like a 180 out of the turbo and never had a problem with it blowing off.. just get some t-bolts

as other said you will be fine. the bigger the 90 is the better. try and make it 2.5'

I used a 2in-2.25in rad hose from NAPA and its held up to 19psi with a 90 deg. bend very similar to the pic above. Holds 15-16psi daily, no problem.
