Can someone help me out?

I dont understand.. if the VTEC doesnt engage, shouldnt the ECU pick that up and throw a CEL?

Anyone know what i should look at?

make sure your car is warmed up, also make sure your oilpan isnt dented, what motor are you running, and in which car?

 

JDM b16 with PR3 ecu...

small tiny dent but nothing bad...

 

yes make sure of those, also make sure u are running enough oil in ur engine, and a good oil filter.....have u been up to date on ur oil changes

 

warm engine.... also a quarter of oil over full...

just did the swap 1400 miles ago and also built it for boost...

 

clean the gasket and solenoid area that's bolted on to the head. also talk to KaMiN bout the solenoid, i believe if u put the wire to the solenoid on the positive of the battery, you should hear a click, if u do, the solenoid is good, if u don't, ur solenoid might be bad....IM KaMiN for sure tho.

ok, pound out your oilpan. the oil pickup is VERY close to the bottom of the pan. just ask my friend who drives a 94gsr and we arent 100% that his vtec is working. theres a slight dent we put in it tonight. hehe. oops. but yes take the pan off and pound the dent out. and for the solenoid. the grey connector (i think its grey) its the 1 pin connector. touch a wire to the pos. terminal on the battery and the solenoid side of the connector. the solenoid will click. that means its still good and its related to somthing else. the CEL wont come on if its oil or temprature related.
