gsr cams
i am really thinking about buying gsr cams but im not sure what all i have to do, in the future i will be going with a turbo set up but for right now its going to be stock for a little while. will these cams make power in higher rpms then the b16 ones? will my vtec be stronger ? will i have to get my ecu chipped?

You don't have to do anything, they are a direct swap. Pull out the b16 cams, and drop in the gsr cams, the vtec will be slightly stronger, and pull a little harder. The difference comes when you turbo the car, that's when the different lobe dimensions stand out, and you end up making a lot more power over the b16. On the b16, people have made up to 30whp gains for dropping in a set of gsr cams, but that's a lot of tuning on a turboed b16, etc.......
so i will be able to fell the diffrence, thats why i really wanted to get them so i will have them when i go with a turbo and i will have a little extra right now with out turbo. do they make power at a higher rpm then stock b16s?

yeah it will make a difference..the 1g b16 cams are the absolute worst..gsr cams wont really make a peak power difference ,,but ive seen some noticeable gains in the mid range power..

Agreed, I had GSRs in my B16, but my B came with the B16 automatic cams...which really sucked. I have a set of 2nd gen B16 cams on my shelf that will go for cheap if you are looking at those too.

Agreed, I had GSRs in my B16, but my B came with the B16 automatic cams...which really sucked. I have a set of 2nd gen B16 cams on my shelf that will go for cheap if you are looking at those too.
Umm.. ya I have these and can't tell any difference at all power wise. These are really a waste of time and money unless you get them free or close to it. 10 hp is also due to higher compression and OBD1 electronics in the 2nd gen b16a2.

yeah its not a huge gain but there is a gain,,its more noticed if you're boosted..look at this dyno,,dotted lines are the 1g b16 cams and solid lines are the gsr b18..every single thing is the same except for the cams..

so can anyone compare this to N/A?
they are good for boosted B16s, but are they helpful for a N/A 1s gen B16a?
My buddy has almost brand new GSR cams for 100$, and i dunno If I want those or 550$ skunk stage 1's,

Truth is the 2nd gen B16 has a number of things where that extra 10 hp come from.
It has high comp pistons @ 10.4:1 (p30), also and improved intake manifold, 60mm throttle body, as well as a slightly better cam set.
