Default RODS, opinions on high rev

Looking for people who have BUILT a D series to hold up to 8500+ rpm blasts.

what rods do you use?

for that matter, what valvetrain and piston/rod combos are used?
I'm in the process of a teardown and major build of a sohc ZC.
So if any of you have done this please share info, thanks.

save the bench racing for the bench,
im looking for actual experience.
searched to no avail thus far.

i'm not 100% sure but wouldn't you be able to use a nice forged rod form a ls motor. if so you have tons of options

we've built a good number of D-series setups.

If you really are plannign to take the RPMs up that high, I would invest on an aftermarket rod such as Eagle Rods. the key is the rod bolts in these things.

Another suggestion is also stock rods but with ARP rod bolts. But to really make these work, you have to shot peen them as well and the price for that plus the ARP rods is close to getting aftermarket rods already.

at 8500 rpm. dont do it unless you go Eagle rods.

what about higher? would eagle handle it?

ive got a p+p head with skunk2 goodies and p+p matched intake.
I plan on using a pretty stout dual stage nitrous setup.

Yes the eagle rods can handle that much rpm. but the skunk2 valvetrain is what I would question. Make sure the valvetrain has the right spring rates for what you are using it for.

I've taken the Supertech setup to 9500rpm All Motor.
