CRX DOT approved drag drag radial
Ok
Guys, I have done a search for this information with no real luck
I would like to hear people views based on experience.
My car,
(UK) CRX B16 turbo (built)
Adjustable D2’s ATB Race Logic TC etc etc etc etc blab la bla
Last year I ran a pair MH street radials 235/60/15
Tread Width: 7.5"
Section Width: 9.8"
Overall Diameter: 25.4 inches
Circumference: 80.0"
Rim Size: 6.5" min
We had to modify the front wings by cutting them back and adding trailer arches and move the front bumper forward by about 2 inches, it worked fine and those tires (tyres in English) were great but the problem is, they are too big.
We now use BFG’s
BFG G-Force T/A Drag Radial
P225/50/R15
Overall Diameter 23.9 inches
Now these seem to work ok and just about fit in the arches with no modifications other than removing the plastic inner wheel arches but I’ve also been looking at MT, these come in on the large side too, MT sales advised they are about to release a new 205/50/15 drag radial that will put all other to shame but alas, we will have to wait for them to be released.
So now my question?
Anyone recommend a good, well ok **** hot drag radial DOT approved that will fit without the modifications I had to make for the MH's
It's for drag BUT it has to be a DOT approved tire, I will change them at the track hence the reason I can't use the MH, as much as I would like I just can't because of the work involved to make them fit.
The BFG's are ok but I would like to know about other brands that may provide more traction.
The car is set up as an all-rounder, will drag, track and road with ease, don't want to loose this.
Like I say, they MUST be a DOT approved drag radial and be no larger than the BFG’s you also need to remeber we don't have the ease of access to these types of tires as you have in the USA, when I order it will take a few weeks to deliver plus if they are not all that good then I'm stuck with them!

Slicks can’t be used in the events I’m entering, must be DOT approved drag radial.
Running slicks places you into a different class were you come up against the 9 second 4WD cars, most of these are very well prepared tuner entries that arrive on trailers and are not road legal.
I’m certain the Honda could mix it up at this level but my car is not prepared for this hence why I’m entering a street class.
Wheel size has to be 15 inch becasue of the brakes, as I said, car is used on circuit as well and the 15's I have clear the brake set-up.

225/50/15 BFG GForce Drag Radial
For ultimate traction I would use a 235/60/15 BFG Comp T/A Drag Radial or M/T 235/60/15 DR ..
The last 2 entries are 26.1" tall tires but hook way better than the 225/50/15 BFG .
Ultimate traction go with the taller tire

OK
The MH was only 25.4 inches and we had to modify the front wings by cutting and welding in trailer arches then move the front bumper forward by 2 inches, the hook up was incredible.
I understand a taller tire will provide the ultimate but I have to compromise, if the car was prep ready for pure drag then I would go for the ultimate tire, I’m looking to run into the 12’s or better on UK tracks on a drag radial, I’m sure this is achievable on BFG’s but I’m after other options.
