im helping a friend swap a C5 into his 99 EK. everything is in and it starts up fine. the problem is that we are using a jdm itr cat w/o the 2nd o2 sensor and its tripping the cel. its a C5 from a 2000 itr so its obd2b. my question is can we splice the wires from the 2nd O2 sensor and run them to the primary O2 sensor to get the cel to turn off? thanks for any help.

 

run the 2nd o2 sensor and wire it up to the ecu harness

 

cant, its a jdm cat from a 98+ itr, has no o2 sensor.

 

connecting the secondary O2 into for the ECU to the primary will create a CEL fro sure, and may load down the O2 bad enough to weaken it or even kill it if it's weak to begin with.

Get and O2 simulator (google it, click the first link for the DIY version)

 

Can you use your stock Cat from the EK? or does it not bolt up?

 

no, the stock cat is that funky style off the non vtec d engine. i think ill just have him get one of those high flow odb2 cats from magnaflow. we just wanted everything to bolt on clean.

 

You can have a second O2 bung installed near the cat outlet or the B-pipe inlet for little cost.
