axle problem - main axle bolts lock axles when tightened.
as the title says, my axles get locked (won't turn) when i tighten down the axle bolts.
as as i tighten the axle bolt down, the rotor/axle no longer turns, same on both sides.
its a stock 91 automatic dx sedan.
i've done axle replacements on other civics on several occasions. everything went normal as always, i usually find it to be another boring mindless job.
with the axles clicked into the tranny, they are nicely secured/sealed as should be (filled the tranny with fluid also) and i can rotate them both a bit like they should.
you can start the car put it in drive, and they operate as should.
everything looks perfect, i had no problems getting the rest of the job done, the splines on the axle lined up and slid into the rotor with ease... i just dont understand why everything seizes up when i fasten down the rotor.
here is a picture of each side after i've disassembled it again, and laid the original axles on the ground next to the new axles for comparison.
i am hoping a super wise honda guru will just post up with a identical past experience with an easy solution. *crosses fingers* i want to get this car back on the road with new axles

looks like you may have one wrong axle - the new one is for something with anti-lock brakes, hence the ring with the teeth on it - try taking the vinyl dust ring off the CV joint where it fits into the back of the hub
