i am about to purchase a 2001 JDM type R tranny with a 4.7 final drive. how can i tell that its a JDM version and not the USDM? and how can i tell that its a 2001 spec with LSD? is there a code to it?

Check where the VIN tag goes, JDM wont be threaded for the bolts to hold the tag.

thanks.. what do u mean JDM wont be threaded for the bolts? is it like just a sticker on it? pics would help thanks btw picking it up on friday

 

JDM transmission does not have the green VIN tag that US transmissions does, so the holes that the bolts for the tag goes into will not be threaded on the JDM one.

only the S80-XXXXXXXX sticker and N3E LSD stamp on the tranny. Search for pics. Ebay gots lots of pics.

 

thanks bro i will be out there checking out the tranny now i will look for N3E LSD stamp and a sticker VIN TAG on it... praying for a 4.785 heehe

Boy are you gonna be pissed when you pass up the trans because there IS NO VIN TAG ON A JDM TRANS!!!
