Default just bought my CRX

Hey I am a big newbie, I understand, but please answer this question of mine. I just bought an 89 CRX today for $150 and the only thing wrong with it is it has a bad clutch. How much is it going to cost to replace the clutch, including labor? Are there any specific type or brand of clutches I should look for or just any knowledge on the subject would be helpful. Thank you all....

Labor is $300 dollars on any clutch. If your looking for an OEM type clutch, it will cost around $150 to $250. A performance clutch will be atleast $300+

Since you are a newbie I would suggest to take on the task yourself......you'll learn a lot about your car and save some money at the same time......6 years ago I knew nothing about dealing with a car mechanically and my first task was replacing the clutch on my 88 si......it was hard, I won't deny it, but after that there was nothing I could not do on it....

later and good luck...

Well, my father has a BUNCH of mechanic friends so I guess I could be in there with them and help at least, but there is no way I'll go at it alone, I don't want to take the chance of screwing my first car up.....anyway, what kind of performance advantage should I expect to gain if I go with performance clutch? And also, what would you guys recommend doing first to the car, I don't know whether to go for wheels, a new system, intake or exhaust, ummmm tend to the minute amount of rust and get a paint job.....any ideas?? thanks everyone

well no performance is made or lost from a clutch as HP figures are. But you can dramatically reduce your launch times if you have a good clutch. I reccomend a stage 2 clutch. It will last long and be good for FI later on

get the rust fixed...screw a paint job...do a motor swap..(LS)..but if you want to stay SOHC...the clutch would proably be best if you stay OEM..unless you are going all out performance...no system is needed or wheels....stock steelies are just fine! just my opion on the subject!
