how much is the shop going to charge you?
If you just install the gears, you may not get the lsd.
If i were you, id just buy the itr tranny because if the shop messes up, youll probaly have to turn around and buy it a little bit later anyway.

look at it this way, to build an itr tranny out of a gsr tranny your going to need.

1) LSD is around $600-$900
2) ITR gears, usdm or jdm final drive, $500-$1000
3) new syncros $?
4) Labor $80-$120 an hour then figure about 6 to 8 hours of labor.

then you have your whole brand new itr tranny.

Or buy a used usdm or itr tranny for $900- $1200 and install it yourself!

I've been think of getting my tranny rebuilt as well. I say get the parts and get it done how you want. Rather than risk buying someone's used goods.

I would do the same thing, that way you KNOW it's going to last. Who knows what the previous owner did to the used itr tranny.

true... but i found a deal for a JDM ITR 2001 spec tranny 4.7 fd.. for 9 hundred... and if i did rebuild my tranny... having a 4.7 FD and LSD installed i figured would cost me just as much as buying the tranny itself

damn wish I could have found a jdm itr trans for that price.

If you stick w/ the 4.40 FD the GSR and the ITR are the same.

you'd need the lsd and a shim kit to properly install it.

Then install the itr gears.

If I were to do it again I'd just rebuild a gsr trans w/ a ATS 4.9 FD and a ATB LSD

My current set up that I'm installing w/ my crvtec is a usdm ITR trans w/ gsr 5th, cryo treated 4.785 FD and a quaife lsd.

Quaife o3ns factory lsd.... but you get what you pay for. At least you aren't trying an OBX lsd or a phantom grip.
