I have a 95 Civic Coupe, last week my window was broken and my stereo was stolen. I am looking for a new HU that will play MP3 CD's, I dont have a ipod or satellite radio so I wont need to pay for thos features. I am using 6 1/2 Infinity refrence speakers up front and 5 1/4 in the back. No Sub or amp.

Can anyone recommend the best Reciever for my setup for around $100-$180?

I was looking at these so far:

PIONEER DEH-P6800MP
PIONEER DEH-P3800MP
PIONEER DEH-P5800MP

ALPINE CDA-9856

 

The previous year's model before the DEH-P3800MP is the DEH-P3700MP, which in my opinion looks much better. You can find it on clearance at some places for under $119.

 

I would go with the Alpine 9847.

 

There arent many 9847's on ebay. What about Alpine CDE-9852, CDE-9843 or even CDA-9856?

Is there a diffrence in sound quality between these or is it features that the price goes up? Also how come some of the Alpine systems have pics where the buttons are blue or orange instead of Blue? Can you change button colors or is it permanent?

 

I would go over choose the CDA models over the CDE for sure.

Whats the Diffrence between the 2? Like the CDA-9856 is $25 more then the CDE-9852.

 

I think I narrowed it down between Alpine CDA-9851 and Alpine CDA-9856. The 9851 is $30 more with a multi color display and motorized face. I havent heard much about it tho... anyone heard good or bad things about either the 9856 or 9851?

 

i sell/sold both at best buy....seen alot of issues with the motorized face going out on the cda-9851 apparently they fixed the problem it was in the initial shipments that went out....but overall I bet you would find less issues with the 9856 and it has the IPOD hookup for 29.99

 

I ordered the 9856 today from crutchfield for $200 /w $20 off coupon.

 

Good choice althugh i like the CDA-9857 better. Because i'm a huge biolite display fan.

 

i have the p38 it works wonders. and all u nee to play an mp3 player is a cd-rb10 cable which is 10$ on ebay. pioneer is the ****.
