Default Ladysman Update...Finally done for now....SOHC build.. 56k, go get food...lol

For the record, Platinum00 just made a thread that made me make a thread. God it's been a long time since I have hit the "new topic" button.

I haven't had a worth while thread that I started in about 2 years that actually had good news. Some of you may remember my old setup and dyno. Here is the thread on it.
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=821860

This simply wasn't enough for me. I still wanted to keep the SOHC because I had just bought axles and a quaife and I didn't need 500whp. ;p

After having major problem after major problem, (search on my name for archive threads) I was about to give up. I decided to take some time off from the car. I did this 1 year ago while waiting for the "fixed" engine to get back to me. Furthermore, I had a new house built and also had my second child, a boy name Sue. (lol, for Johnny cash fans). Actually it was Jake and he was born on 6/21 of 05.

After we got settled in finally with the house and him, I started to get the itch again. All of my friends having fast fun cars, Silvia, RX7, Tegs, etc, didn't help matters any. I tuned a GSR turbo last fall and the itch got worse.

I finally got a call from Endyn last August 17th saying the engine was on their dyno. It made 179.1hp and 142 tq on his engine dyno after being broke in on the same dyno. I have no idea what this is to the wheels but I would take say 18-20% off that, I simply don't know for sure. Either way, for a SOHC built for boost, it sounded good to me.

Setup:
Engine and head built and assembled by Endyn

Block:
Z6 Block
GE Sleeved
78.5mm bore (don't ask why, long story)
Eagle rods with custom aged rod bolt upgrade (now I think these are standard but when I got them, it was extra)
Stock crank
Stock Pan
Endyn Catch Can setup with drainback
Stock Crank Pulley
ARP Headstuds
Cometic Gasket (can't find stock OEM this size….Endyn uses cometic)
Endyn modified Oil Pump

Head:
Z6 head
Endyn port job
Ferrea valve springs
Ferrea Titanium Retainers
Ferrea forged Keepers
Endyn Guides
Endyn Stainless Valves (Supertech)
AEM Camgear (zeroed using degree wheel by Endyn)
Edelbrock IM
ITR TB bored to 70mm
Zex 59300 Cam

Turbo Setup:
Precision SC61 from Art/T1 (lol, bought 2 years ago )
Lovefab AC SST (AC had to be removed because it simply wouldn't fit. Cody tried but without me taking the car there, it wasn't going to fit)
Lovefab 3" DP
Lovefab Dumptube
Thermal 3" exhaust
Custom dumptube routing undneath shifter area
Precision 750hp intercooler
2.25 inch charge piping I used from the old setup
Stainless oil lines (who doesn't do this anymore…lol)
Ac Autotec Sandwich adaptor
Fluidyne radiator

In Cody's defense, he graciously made it right…took time, but made it right. We both agreed to get the DP and Dump to fit, it was best to have it done locally and he paid for it!!

EMS:
Hondata S200 with G sensor
Custom RC 800cc Bosch injectors
Resistor box (see my install writeup in the archives)
MSD cap and rotor (new, well I have had them for 18 months)
7 series plugs for now
Magnecor Wires
Crane Coil
MSD box

Tranny:
Rebuilt Z6 (replaced bearings and seals when the Quaife went in 4 years ago)
Quaife LSD
DSS Stage 3 axles
ACT 6 Puck
ACT Xtreme PP
ACT Flywheel (Streetlite)
GM Synchromesh FM Fluid

Suspension/Brakes:
Tein Integra coilovers
Volk TE-37's 16's
Nitto NT55R tires
Jimfab Traction bars
Progress rear sway bar
Front Sway bar bushings
Stainless brake lines
Powerslot rotors
AEM pads

I know I am missing stuff but just ask if it isn't listed.

Big thanks to Endyn, Wherry's Machine and Welding for all the custom welding, Carl, Luke S, Toby, My Dad, Bret for doing LOTS of work on this car over the years. Couldn't have done it without you guys!

Now for the pics.
Engine on Dyno:

on the way to the welding shop last Thursday

On it's way home

And ou thought I was kidding the car sat for an extended period of time.

Modified Dumptube to get it to fit

Oil Return (Thanks to my brother)

Downpipe

I know there has been numerous thread, post, etc on the whole dumptube routing. I did it because I didn't want my cabin smelling like burnt band-aids with a hint of wing farts everytime the wastegate opened. Whether it helps with power, who knows.
It turned out cool as hell and solid as a rock!! Let me know your thoughts.

Stainless flex tubing from JC Whitney ($27 for 5 feet, I only used about 3 of it)

Held on by custom Saddle brackets welded to the exhaust. Each bracket has a weld bead to prvent clamp from coming off. If it does, the clamp would have to be loosened or broken.

Another Shot

Underneath

You simply can't cut the flex at an angle, it will fall apart. The welding got some steel piping and cut it then welded it to the stainless pipe.

Filter Shot

Intercooler brackets

intercooler Shot

intercooler Bumper Shot

Heat Wrap intercooler pipe to keep DP heat from it.

Thought I would need a hump hose here to flex a little more, turns out I didn't. You don't see it anyway so i used it.

Wastegate Shot (Tial 35 from old setup) Oh, Flex piping is held on by a t-bolt clamp for those wandering

Completed

Car

One thing I have noticed since it was done is that the engine runs about 195-202 most of the time. My guess is this is because of the manifold. I found a thread by D@anny I am going to bump up. But in that thread, 202 was cold.

I plan on putting my old spoon thermoswitch back in and add some water wetter this weekend. Still doing tuning but it runs well so far.

Thanks again to everyone that helped. Glad I can finally enjoy it.

Any suggestions, be my guest. Questions, be my guest.

I still get PM's on how my progress is, well enjoy guys and thanks for waiting.

Brad

Nice job, I bet it felt awsome to hear that thing start up for the first time after all that work. I'll be doing something similar to your project so this thread further inspires me.

Is that a 90* bend right off your oil drain? Might want to rethink that, probably won't drain too well

Your kid's got a good birthday though June 21st when I was born was the first day of Summer and Fathers day though, so I'm uber-special

Looks good!

I have a question about your valve cover nipples. Do you have an internal baffle? and if not do you get any oil shooting out into the tubes?

can we expect some dyno graphs soon?

You will. Soon? Not sure. Too much family obligations in the coming weeks.

The cover is internally baffled yes. No oil shooting out so far.

It's always garaged, arizona car, never seen winter and rarely rain. The car was mint when I got although the paint had faded from AZ sun. The whole car was painted 4 years ago.

It's not that bad here, we aren't in KS.
