Factory Valve Cover Peeling
This sucks the paint is just kinda drying up on the corner on the front left side (if you are standing in front of the car) and flakeing off.Now I relize my 97 is pushing 10 y\o I dont think Ive spilt anyting volitile on it maybe some coolaint got on it a few months back when my end tank cracked ?Anyone else with an older car seen this ? I kinda have a slight worrie that someone at my Acura dealer might have pulled a switch with mine last I was at the dealer for the radiator and other work.I dont trust them after my Mugen strut tower bar was "accidentally" not replaced after I had my timingbelt done luckly I looked under the hood after that visit and corected there "mistake" .

Yeah, that time I poped the hood as soon as I got my keys back from the service desk. Now when I take it in I remove it at home.

Theres a write up on a UK Honda forum on restoring the valve cover. I just did mine last weekend and seriously it looks amazing. People I showed it to didnt believe I had a painted it. I will get some pics tonight. Save your money and repaint it. - its straight forward job :-
1. Remove Valve Cover
2. Remove old paint (paint remover - rinse x 2)
3. Let dry, plug holes,
4. Spray with VHT Wrinkle paint.
5. Let dry for 24-48hours.
Its that straight forward. Just be careful with the paint stripper its seriously dangerous stuff.
Pics tonight - ill go look if i can hijack some from that thread. Cant post a link to it as its members thread and ull have to register.

These are not my pics, so no credit taken. I followed that process thou and my valve cover now looks like the last pic.
Oh by the way for the H and DOHC lettering etc, after youve removed the paint clean it up and polish it , then apply vaseline to the lettering, this will prevent the paint from sticking then its just a case of wiping off once its dried. I used a knife to just scrape it off delicately. You only need a smidge of vaseline applied with ure finger
Before you start
Paint Stripper

After Paint Stripper

VHT Wrinkle Plus

Finished

You're crazy.. and so am I.
I'm keeping with OEM USDM parts whenever possible. My valve cover isn't peeling, but it's never been cleaned (it matches the rest of the engine bay that way.
