wel i was drivin down the road and the car just died.... got out checked the timing belt, not that, i checked my battery connections na dmy grounds.... not that..... than i disconnected my battery and hooked it back up and checked my fuel pump.... wasnt that either. than for the heck of it i tried startin it.. it started. than i drove it around ofr a week and it did it again.... so i got out and disconnected the battery and waited a minute and than hooked it back up. started again. this time it lsated about 5 minutes. what the hell is going on?????

 

you need to get a voltmeter, just for the heck of it, check voltage of battery, and battery votage while car is running, making sure the voltage is in the 14v range or so so you know the alternator is running properly, also carefully open the battery top to see if the battery is dry.

 

i got plenty of juice everythign inside is still lit its been sitting for 2 weeks... been trying to start it and it just wont crank over. all the lights and all the gauges and everythign about everythig still lights just fine. could that mean my computer is fried?? or maby a sensor throwing it off??

 

from fixing a teg just 3 days ago that wouldn't start, usually the problem seems much larger than it really is, have you checked EVERY fuse under the hood and under driver side dash of car? especially the starter fuses'

 

check your spark plugs and make sure they are clean..any type of dirt could have an effect on the spark..also check distributor cap and make sure it is dirty free and connected tightly..

another question.. does the starter engage when you turn the key..you should hear a hiss or a chatter type sound coming from the engine..

 

Hey man i kinda had somthing like this when i first got my car .. i would be driving and the motor just cuts off .. still got all my interior lights just wont krankover .. so i had no clue took it to acura they found out there was a wire under the dash .. and when it would rub somthing didnt happen alot ... (only 2 times and then i took it in ) the ignition fuse would pop .. and then u could put a new one run fine till that wire rubed and then the same thing .. just an idea maybe if u got an alarm or some kinda ricey lighting , good luck bro

 

yeah i had a similar problem in a accord i used to own, find out it was a .50 part that cost $40 to get fixed under the steering column...

 

when it died the first time i checked the spark plugs and they were all clean ive had them for only a month. i checked every fuse and thye were all in good shape. when i turn the key the engine cranks the starter is engauged and all that good stuff. i have plenty of juice form the battery, spark plugs and wires are in great shape, ive hcecked all the obvious. think it might be in my computer? maby a sensor???????????

 

You didn't mention checking for spark when your car stopped. This sounds like the ignitor inside the distributor might be going out.
