Could you guys help me out
I am doing this stupid project for school and i have to interview people who have recently purchased a new car so i decided to use HT. So could you guys answer a few questions about you new Hondas.
1. What new car have you recently purchased?
2. What did YOU look for when purchasing the car and why? (Warranty, Reliablility, looks, Gas mileage, Etc....)
3. IF fuel efficiency was not one of your top answers, where does it rank and why?
thanks for your help

Main reasons I got this car, honestly, was for the combination of safety features, nice (stereo, ac, nice engine) features, and fuel mileage. As well as knowing that Hondas hold value better than most domestics. (If not all.)

1. 2006 honda civic dx
2. Very nice price of $14k, excellent honda reliability, interior & exterior design, and fuel economy ownz. one of the other reason is the mass aftermarket support that will come for the car in a few years as i want to make it my project car 5-6 years from now by adding a turbo.
3. Fuel efficiency is like #4...price, interior & exterior design(material fit& finish), reliability, fuel economy.

2. I wasn't happy with my 4 door LX.. I felt like a grandma. It was worth more than I owed so my payment only went up 40 dollars a month. I also liked all of the new safety features that mine lacked.
3. its important, like I am not going to go buy a V8 mustang. anything I would buy would have good fuel efficency anyways.

I was looking for the best handling new car for $20k. I wanted the reliability and low maintenance of a brand new car, and the Civic with 6 speeds, LSD and good chassis really was my only choice. I did consider reliability and fuel economy, but they weren't deal breaker items for me. The economy is slightly less than my car I replaces (1991 Infiniti G20) and much better than the other car I was considering (Honda Element). In the end though, it came down to the Civic being more fun than the E.

I'd say fuel economy was third or fourth in my ranking. First was price- I'm on a strict budget and my out the door price couldn't be more than $23k or $24k. Second was performance- I wanted to get the most bang for my buck without having to modify the car. Third and fourth were fuel economy and utility. This car is only for me to drive (not our family hauler). Although I would have liked he extra space in the Element, the lower gas mileage (compared to my current car) was the deal breaker for the Element.
I didn't really compare fuel economy on my new car choices directly, but only compared to my current car since I wanted to make sure I wasn't spending much more than I am now on gas (although this is an indirect comparison between new cars). As long as mileage was comperable to what I had before, that was fine with me.
