Default noobie - so my first, and last dumb questions

Hi all, just registered as i have bought my first ever honda and want to find out more about it, and what i can do to it...

I'm in the UK so the model may be different, hopefully i can find the US alternative as i can find little aftermarket goodies here for it.

The car is a 2002 honda accord Vtec sport - sounds flash eh ? to be honest its a little boring, nice and comfortable but not very exciting.

Do you guys get the accord Vtec sport ? its only 1.8 (no idea what model engine) but with some nice interior touches but little in the way of exterior styling

where should i start reading up for more info on this model ?

thanks
I promise my following posts wont be so lame and uniformed !

^^ holy run on sentence! my head hurts trying to read that.

accord vtec sport is not a model I'm familiar with, especially with a 1.8L engine!

I'd be very interested to see pictures of this beast. Do you know the engine code by chance?

Welcome to the board!!

the european accords are much smaller than their US counter parts (think 4th gen size for current cars)

will sort some pics out tonight if i get time. Its quite a large car to be honest (compared to a lot of euro tin) it runs quite happily at 80-90mph and will stroll along past 100mph with ease, but its no race car, perhaps the quietness is deceiving ??

I'll take a pic of the engine bay i have no idea what motor it is, which is quite embarrasing considering i have built a street/strip aircooled VW that ran 12's, modded a bunch of cars (last being a toyota corolla Gti with 4age that was into 13's) and i'm a founder of and currently the president of the Unity Lowrider Car club here in the UK !

<hangs head in shame>

I'll take a quick look around the net for a similar model from a UK website and link it in.... just incase i dont get time to take photo's when i get home

found one...

I've been trying to find some info on the F18B2.

If I read and converted right, the car comes with 132hp (at 6000rpm), 130 tq.
Car weight, ~3050 lbs

The only other thing I've been able to find out so far is that the motor shares the same timing and balance belt as the F20B6, which is just the larger motor available during the same years.

Still searching for more info... (unfortunately, most of it's in Russian, and the translator doesn't always work right.)

really ? Ok so perhaps its not as 'dull' as i first thought.

I took it out and drove it hard that other night and it did suprise me and it really came to life, my old toyota came to life at 3000rpm and went round to 8000rpm, this honda seems to come to life at about 3000rpm but fuel cut happens at 6000rpm

guess this is all normal as i have yet to add or improve anything engine wise.
On the horizon is intake, possibly manifold and exhaust to get the engine breathing a little better as for which depends on what i hear/read on the net, oh and some wheels/tyres (purely cosmetic <yawn&gt

Then cams, injectors and finally ecu mods to tie it all together

thanks for the interest, if i can offer anything in return just shout !

Well that C pillar is a little more bubble-like than any accord I've seen. But I'm sure slammed, with some nice wheels it'll look bad*ss.

Oh good lord! It's not even the same car. And why on Earth would you go for mediocrity when you are going to spend money to do engine work?

As for the car, very nice. I am not sure you will be able to find too much help here as not many of us are familiar with the engine. But I am sure you can look through the performance stuff for the F series engines and just take everything you read with a grain of salt knowing it may or may not help your cause.
