Default Do 98 civic DX hatchbacks have wires for vtec on the engine harness?

Okay so I bought a 98 civic dx with a built gsr turbo in it. The engine harness is all messed up and needs replacing.

Does the dx engine harness have vtec wires on it? Or should I find an obd2a EX harness?

I already have a skunk2 obd2a to obd1 ecu conversion harness, I just need to get the wiring on the motor to the ECU fixed.

OBD2A EX HARNESS is what you need

Will the obd2a EX harness clip into that green chassis harness of the 98 DX hatch?

You know, that green plug that's right down by the passenger side kick panel near the ECU?

can i use a 99 obd2b engine harness? What are the differences between the 98 and 99 engine harnesses? What would need to be changed to get the obd2b harness to work in my 98 obd2a civic hatch?

and on a second note

What is the difference between the auto and manual engine harness for the same model car, like a 98 civic dx auto vs. manual?

Can you use the auto harness in a manual car with a manual ecu?

Any of you guys know the difference between the 96-98 civic engine harness and the 99-00 civic engine harness? Can you just depin and repin the 99-00 obd2b engine harness into the correct 96-98 obd2a ecu plugs? Or are there missing or extra sensors?

I would just find a 96-98 DX harness and just run the wires for vtec, I hate wiring problems though.

nice buy, must be a fun little car. obd2a ex harness would make it easiest and should be plug and play. I believe obd2b can be converted by moving pins. check out katman's webpage that details the entire ecu pinouts for both generations and you can probably figure it out. http://technet.ff-squad.com/

thanks man, I will go check out that page now. Yeah it will be a fun car, once its running right. Got lots of stuff done to it, but the wiring is all messed up and there was a VAFC installed in it with DSM injectors and no resistor box, so the ecu, wiring harness and injectors are all probably toast.

Anybody know what the differences are between the automatic and manual engine harness? Is there just an extra plug for the automatic tranny lockup solenoid, or is there more then that?

This is the most awesome site ever, this guy Katman has some kick *** resources on his site. For all check this out for pinouts, explanations, ect. ect. I need to track down a EX harness now for under $200. That's just way to fricken much to pay.
