Need help on my 92 civic hatch.
Problems I am having are;
- On the freeway, rpm sometimes dies/drops, then car feels like a pig. I give it more gas, it feels like the car isnt going anywhere but after a second or two, rpm picks back up and then drives like normal. No check engine light.
- On the freeway, the car sometimes chokes, like it is going to die/run out of gas. Rpm flutters back and forth. No check engine light.
- Car sometimes is hard to start, like it isnt getting spark, but after a few tries it cranks over fine and drives fine. No check engine light.
- On the freeway, rpm sometimes dies/drops and then car dies and battery light and oil light comes on, no check engine light, I turn it off and crank it over all while on the freeway, in motion, it starts up fine and drives fine.
- Car sometimes cranks over but dies immediately followed by the battery and oil light. After a few tries it cranks over fine, no check engine light.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I would say that it could be the fuel pump or fuel filter but once I had a similar problem and it was the distributor cap. I usually check the simplest stuff first haha.
Agreed - give it a tune up. Plugs, wires, distributor cap, fuel filter...
Hopefully that will fix it. When you do the distributor cap, check for red dust/oil - if you see either of those it may be time for a new dizzy.

Fuel filter and fuel pump. Check the power supply to your fuel pump. I had a similar problem, and my auto electrician did a relay to my pump. Everything worked well.
If it's definately his fuel pump, then why check the main relay also?????? Doesn't make much sense now does it.
On to your problems. Does it do the freeway dying when it's cold or only when it's all the way warmed up?
If all the way warmed up, I would lean towards dizzy BUT, pull your codes first before you do anything. You may not have a CEL while driving but that doesn't mean there won't be codes in the ECU that aren't triggering the light. Like 16 for example, the fuel injector general code. It won't trip the light and I am sure there are others.

Sorry for the late replies, I've been real busy. Anyways the car has close to 160k miles. I'll do a full tune up and see if that solves the problem. How do you check for codes without taking it to a shop? Whats dizzy? Sorry but Im a noob. Thanks.

I agree, check ur grounds, and then move on to checking inside of ur distributor for debris, and other things. Good luck!!

i am surprised it has not been mentioned yet, but a faulty ignitor/coil will give off the exact same symptoms.
