Hesitation and sputtering.....
My 92 honda civic lx is having some issues.....it idles at very low RPMS.. around 500..... and it accelerates fine until around 2500 and 4000 rpms it hesitates and sputters to get going......but if i give it full throttle it hesitates as begining and then runs fine from there...i also use an excessive amount of oil......
....so far i have replaced.....new valve,valve guide, plugs and wires, air filter, pvc valve, oil and exhaust......
i need help i get aorund 18 mpgs and i would like better.....anyone with advice plz help me

we just cut the cat off my friends Chevy Baretta after it was doing the same thing and now it actually wants to start on the first try and idle. then we replaced the muffler and it runs even better.

just disconnect your cat just to check if it helped or not....I would probably try the distributor rotor and cap....see if there is something going on there...
I would place this as the 02 sensor fouling and then causing the car to run rich. In turn it likely clogged your catalyst. As for burning oil, if your getting up there in mileage you may be getting some blow by in the cylinders. Run some Castol GTX 10w-30 with a Puralator (PureONE) filter and see how you do. Check you oil at every fuel stop on the flat surface by the gas pump and wait about 3 minutes before checking it after shutting off your engine.
