cop stop me twice for having yellow head lights the 2nd time they gave me a ticket and i told the cop im not changing the for anyone and the cop says its up with u and the Illinois Secretary of State and heres wat they said! man f*ck the police man..... they can go lick my *****.. so now i have a court date on may 16 and im goign to win wooohooo... tell me wat u guys think

625 ILCS 5/12-201 (b) deals with the color of headlights. The law
requires that each vehicle have 2 head lamps, one on each side of the front
of the car, "which satisfy United States Department of Transportation
requirements, showing white lights, including that emitted by high
intensity discharge (HID) lamps, or lights of a yellow or amber tine..."

I had them on my EF a few years ago before I sold it, never had a problem. Was even stopped at a random check point on I-90, state police said nothing. Ive got PnP HIDs on my EM1, still nothing. I swear I thought Illinois police could give two ***** till I read this thread.

i have a nice big ticket and 2 warning chillin on my walll right now, im in missouri, i found some headlights that they are really yellow hwne u look at the straight on but if u get at an angil they turn white,cops hate me for it,but when i traded my crx for my eg i had to leave them in it and i cant find any for the eg yet

yellow headlights are legal in IL, you'll win the case man, cops need to read the laws and stop hassling import owners and crack down on all the 4x4's and muscle cars

I just ordered my yellow lights from password and its been almost 3weeks. If i ever ****** get them, HOPEFULLY! the JAKES wont bother me in New Jersey... Hopefully. Thats if i ever get them...

 

FWIW, it's legal for a city to enact it's own laws regarding the color of headlights & pretty much whatever else they want. If you got stopped in streamwood, & streamwood has a law against yellow headlights, in a nutshell - you're screwed.

The cop could have sent you down a wild goose chase with the IL SOS. If you even hear back from them at all it probably won't be until long after your court date. I'd stop in at a SOS facility and talk to someone there about this. AFAIK IL doesn't have any state laws regarding headlight color.

Personally, I wish the cops would pull over all the domestic SUVs with badly aimed headlights. Every night I drive home down unlit 2-lane roads, every night 9 out of 10 domestic SUVs have their headlights aimed so wrong I can't see a damned thing until they pass - plus about a quarter refuse to switch their brights off. I don't know why the import SUVs are all magically aimed correctly - even HID-equipped import luxocruisers aren't as painful.

streamwood cops are so lame they just want your money i think ive gotten pulled over so many times for either having a loud exhaust or jdm front plate or just for the hell of it there are some ghetto car in swood i hope youor not talkin about mine though i got an em1 with gt3's but i have yellow fogs and they never give me **** for the fogs just bunk *** ****.... plus swood cops like to search your car

If you want to get out of the ticket all you have to do is go to court and show proof that you took out the yellow bulbs and put in normal bulbs. Just take a picture of it and bring it to court and the judge will dismiss it immediately. I've done this 2 times already for no license plate on front bumper, and tinted windows. And guess what...I still have no front license plate and tinted windows!!!

dont mean to change the subject or anyways but i remember sometime ago i saw a lifted truck getting pulled over on the freeway by an asian cop who had those two rednecks cuffed. my eyes filled with tears of joy
