Default Price for a vtec??

hey,

I'm planning on getting a vtec head from someone for my 95 ls...how much do you think i should be paying if it came with all valves, springs, camshaft, and cam gear and all the good stuff...

And how much would be a good price for just the vtec head itself with nothing else on it??

I think he's asking 300 for the head and everything on it

thanks

300 with everything in it is really cheap, if it in good condition

I would check and see if it's a "Hot" Head. Being that your from the noVa Area, I wouldn't put it past for that cheap. But I could be wrong.

300 Is a steal. But thats not everything you need for ls/vtec.

300 is really cheap. Be careful make sure that its not hot. Vtec heads go for $450-$600. But it depends on the condition of the head. These prices are for B16/GSR heads. You will need a LS/VTEC oil line kit, tap the head for the oil line, GSR water pump & Type R oil pump. GSR/ARP head studs, Head Gasket (GSR). And build the block if you want it to last.

And I almost forgot about the timing belt and a vtec ecu. Please dont bootleg it and run VTEC to a switch. Good Luck with your build.

Yea that sounds cheap, I almost did the same thing on super honda. I had some guy who was selling a c1 head and a bunch of other stuff and i was like damn im raping the guy on this head with like 80k miles for 250 with everything and dizzy and intake manifold. Then I just got a bad feeling and it ends up he ripped everyone else who sent him money off.

If its a "hot" head is there any way to identify it and tell where it came from? I dont think there is so it wouldn't matter!

Exactly

I sold my b16 head with skunk 2 stage 2's and skunk valve train for 500 bucks I just needed it gone asap and didnt care for hondas anymore so i sold it for cheap....

Even if it was "hot" who cares if you can get it for 300 dollars its worth it... but i dont think he ment he found one for 300 thats what he was thinking they are worth but they are worth more than that around 450-500 for a nice complete one as for a bare one no more that 100 bucks

you can use factory GSR/typeR head bolts OR ARP "b20 with b16 head" head studs. and you will use a NON-vtec (95 ls) headgasket. research, dont take every h-t'ers word of advice for alot, and good luck! if you have any questions, email me.

edit: 300 is dirt cheap for everything. be careful, make sure everything is on it when you get it. and take it apart and make sure everything is working properly (ie rock arms and rocker shaft, ect)

haha very true

300 is very cheap, it is probably a 1gen b16 head so the vavles may be old

there are many unseen costs that are associated with an lsvtec setup if you do not want to run into problem

such as:
new head gasket
ECU
head studs
vtec oil and water pump
arp rod bolts
gsr/itr timing belt
wiring for vtec
drilling the head for the dowel pins

it is not a slap together and go swap if you want it to drive hard and rev to 8k

I bought a 00 gsr head for $150 bucks. I knew what integra it came out of and it wasn't hot that's for sure. It is now cuz some ******* stole it along with the rest of my gsr motor lol.
I got mine on homie discount. But $300 sounds reasonable to me. Especially if it's an sir1 head. I remember when those motors were $100 complete.
