What causes power surging with the A/C on???
Ok it's a old 93 Civic EX with 142k miles it's old and not perfect. But when you run the A/C the power surges randamly. Like the car has little power then all of a sudden power kicks in then goes flat again. I was thinking it was
A. Old Battery
B. Alternator
The car has always idle'd around 500rpm's also i've tried adjusting everything i could think of and nothing helps.

The fan to cool the car down? That shouldn't be affected too much by having the A/C on. I always thought it was the A/C compressor clutch kicking on and off.
Either way, I believe what you're experiencing is normal.

chk the amount of pressure in your a/c line as mine had to much and would cause the a/c compressor to cycle on and off ( my car would speed up then slow down back and forth) - evacuated mine and recharged it to correct pressure and had no problem since ---

yeah thats why alot of ppl with civics take off power steering and AC.
"frees up horsepower and weight"
well it helps but it surely doesn't make your car that much super faster imo. i drive without powersteering and ac because my car didnt come with it. and also imo i dont think honda owners need powersteering. the car is so light. one of my buddies has an integra gsr with no powersteering and he turns it fine when parking. it also could be we're both really muscular guys.

I'm taking out my ac so the turbo will fit without too much money or trouble, I never use the thing, it's added weight, takes up space in the engine bay, etc
When I get the change I'm getting rid of power steering and cruise control also, who needs all that crap.
