Default FAQ Painting bumpers flat black

I made a thread not too long ago about how to paint my bumpers and got lots of useful information (thanks HT) I decided to share and document my experience.

Supplies: Duplicolor adhesion promoter, Duplicolor trim paint, "automotive" sandpaper, tape, paper. I also have bumper removal diagrams in the picture.

I took off the front bumper and taped it off

Sanding was tricky due to the inlets but I think I did a fairly decent job. The adhesion promoter helps a lot.

Then I sprayed 3 coats of adhesion promoter on, waiting 3 minutes between coats

I followed that up with 4 light coats of the trim paint, allowing 10 minutes between each layer.

Here are the results:
I went from...

to

Thanks to everyone who answered my questions. It was pretty easy, just takes time to wait for stuff to dry. Its nice to look like stock again

Looks good! I still say with a good cleaning/ degreasing, you could have used the adhesion promoter and skipped the sanding step. I did that in my son's engine compartment and have had no peeling paint anywhere. Bumpers look much better, you did a great job!

Now that you have done the bumper, go ahead and paint the rest of the lower side trim. It will make it look new!
