Default Check Engine Light Wont Go Away.

I have a problem with my ITR... I stored the car this winter, I read somewhere that when a car is to be stored for a long period of time its a good idea to add a fuel stabilizer to a fresh tank of gas... so I did... ever since I have done that, my idle is very poor, not to mention my check engine light is on..

So I decide to get a Fuel system flush, I figured this would totally flush any remains of this fricken fuel stabilizer that I added 4-5 months before.... Acura hooks up the diag comp. to the ECU, turns out my MAP sensor is throwing a high voltage signal, which is causing my car to run rich.... the funny thing is that before I put that **** in my tank, the car was running perfect, no problems at all...

Ohhh, the Acura tech see's my V-AFC, (which by the way, has never been tuned since I installed it, everything is at stock settings), and tries to tell me that it must be causing the problem somehow... anyhow, the fuel system flush was performed, but still that fricken damn check engine light is on, and the car is running way rich...

Is it possible that the fuel stabilizer crap, screw up the MAP sensor??? The Acura tech, told me that MAP sensors rarely go bad...

My patience is running thin, I ran the car, with at lease two tanks of 94 octane fuel, as well as using to bottles of extra strength fuel injector cleaner and a fuel system flush from the dealer... still this fricken problem haunts me...

What are the symptoms of a bad MAP sensor??? Does it cause the car to run rich???

Can anyone offer any help?

When you guys say solder it, do you mean the connector mid way through the wiring harness? Or do you mean where the wires from the end of V-AFC cable connect to the ECU?????

where the wires attach to the car's ECU harness wires.

I dont think anything fuel related could mess the map up, because the air passes the map before it is mixed with fuel

****... what type of stabilizer did you use???

When you purchase a V-AFC, the unit comes with a wiring harness that has a square type of a connecter mid way through the length of the cable... I check that it seems good... I did not however, check the ECU under the kicker panel and carpet on the passenger side of the car.. How the heck would one of those wires come loose... the wire is totally out of sight and touch... I will check it?

The reason why I think its the stabilizer is, when I added that crap, it says to run the car for 5-10 minutes... so I took it around the block... no sooner did I get up my driveway when the car staled.. I fired it up again, and the check engine light came on and the idle was screwed... now if it’s a V-AFC wire that came loose, that’s one heck of a coincidence!!!!

I have been useing STA-BIL in all my vehicles, Motorcycles, Jet skis, lawn equipment.............for the last 10 years during the winter. Never once have I had a problem.

First check the wiring to VAFC, if no problems. Disconnenct your VAFC and clear the code. If the light comes back on, take it to the dealer. If not rewire the VAFC

Thats what I used - Sta-Bil... hmmm, it gotta be the V-AFC then... I will double check it... I will go under the panel and check the V-AFC - ECU connections... Is it possible that the actual V-AFC went bad???

Thanks for the help.

Your VAFC could be bad, but if it's giving too high of voltage I'd think that you have a loose conection on the harness. Open connection = high voltage.
