lude died on me, need help
My lude died on me today while i was driving. It was wierd i couldnt tell if it lost power but it sort of seemed like it just stopped, Then engine turns over. What could be the problem? My A-pipe was leaking also and was progressively getting louder and louder, could that be related in any way?
No smells, and the car just kinda jolted lightly and stopped while i was driving. I suspected that the shop who replaced my timing belt didnt put it on right and the timing was off which would in turn mess up the head gasket, but i took it back to them a few days after i had my timing belt changed and they said the timing was not off at all. Everything else seems fine, turns over and everything, could it be the fuel pump? If it is how much do fuel pumps cost, and about how many hours of labor is involved.
Jolted, shut off, and the timing belt was just replaced by a shop that you have worries about their work. Turns over, but won't catch.
I think I know what happened, anyone else care to jump in on this bandwagon?
I've jumped two timing belts. That's what happens. It'll turn over just fine, but probably won't catch and start at all. My guess is they screwed up the hydraulic tensioner install (assuming it's an H22)... but that's all it is... mearly a guess.
Take off the valve cover and look at the cam sprockets, see if the arrows line up at TDC. (TDC can be found by looking at the flywheel and rotating the motor until the timing mark is visible. You can do that by yanking the little black "plug" to the left of the header/exhaust manifold on the block to see the flywheel.)
