Yes, you're likely to crack the windshield if you don't,
Atleast that's what happened with a few people in that thread.

No you don't need any weird tools and its really pretty easy to take of the steering wheel. Just do a little research first because you don't want to hurt yourself taking off the air bag. Everything you need to know can be found by searching HT or TI, thats how I figured it all out. Good luck.

I had pulled the dash loose in my teg when I had it. It'll only be a pain if someone messed with the wiring to install a alarm or something, like they did on mine.

Taking the steering wheel out makes things so much easier!

Its really not that hard and you can do it in an few hours.

This is when we did a stereo install and put in a steering wheel.

We took the dash out that far to fix some wiring issues with the stereo, as it was so hacked to $hit when I bought it.

fools thats terrible!!!!! i feel bad for you guys that cracked your windshield!!!!!!!!!

you can drop the steering wheel without removing it its just like 2 12mm nuts and 2 10mm nuts and the whole thing just drops and putting the dash in is just straight out............

oh mann...... that sucks!!!! i wish someone woulda told those people before they tried to wedge the dash between the windshield and the steeringwheel...
