h22 mounting question...
ok, so I am buying an h22 longblock for my 4th prelude and it doesnt come with prelude mounts, the guy had it in his ek hatch. Now I already have an h22 tranny mated with the f22 block right now, when I did the tranny swap, the top mount on the tranny swapped fine, but my question is, will all the mounts on my f swap over to the H and be just fine? TIA

no all of the mounts are fine you will only need to trim off a little bif of the driver side mount to make it fit. ive done this swap several times in accords. they are the exact same. so all of the accord mounts will work.

right, and if this were in an accord forum swapping into an accord that might be useful to know, but he's putting it into a prelude

the other ones will definitely work. i am just not sure about the drivers side one, there might be a difference between the f22 lude and the h22 ludes, or might not be, i never owned a lude

and if you knew anything you would know they almost the exact same this is why it is possible to swap the h22 into an accord using the f22 mounts.....because they are the exact same on the prelude...but your right i dont know what im talking about and i have helped this guy none.
cliff notes: all of the f22 mounts will work...on the prelude the driverside mount MAY need to be modified and it may not

It's a lot cheaper to go to a junk yard if you can't go to http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com their parts are discounted pretty good.

ya dont do that...call a junk yard and buy a f22 or h22 mount...all you need is a grinder or something....if you dont have one take it to something like an exhaust shop and they will trim a lil off for u

right. so i guess all preludes and accords and anythign that uses an F22, has the same exact mounts huh genius? let's see:
90-93 accord drivers side mount- 50820-SM4-020
94-97 accord drivers side mount- 50820-SV4-J01
92-96 prelude S drivers side mount- 50820-SS0-J01
would you look at that, 3 cars all use the same F22 engien, yet all different mounts.
so NO, how you swap an h22 into an accord does not pertain to how you sawp an h22 into a prelude.
if he followed your advice on shaving the drivers side mount, he'd end up with a mount that was too narrow to fit his prelude chassis. just because you had to shave it to fit in an accord doesnt mean you have to shave it to fit in a prelude. which was my god damn point.
so thank you for your attempt on trying to school me on how swaps work. but yea, try again.

oh and for the original poster, i was looking up part numbers and it seems like the predlue S and the SI VTEC have the same exact driverside mount part number so they might actually be the same. if you have the f22 mount avaliable just see if it will bolt up to the engine bracket on the side of the head. if the holes line up, then your good.

please read my post again...i said MAY need to be trimmed......not 100 % for sure...ur right ive not done this swap in the prelude but i hate to tell you that is the only difference between the two...and if you want to compare part numbers please tell me why i have a 96 civic sohc vtec dist cap on my h22 distributor...they are two differnt part numbers but the EXACT same part the rotar is also a civic part. part numbers dont always tell you the whole story
the goal of my post was to keep this kid from buying all new mounts when he didnt need to. he had all he needed to get the swap done...trimming or not trimming the driver side mount

Hey Eddiebx have you done the swap yet?
If not shut your mouth, he was just trying to give some advice and gave a disclaimer with it so what are you bitching about. I don't see anyone chiming in that they have done this swap givning him the advice he is looking for. So chill

I can admit I am wrong...So here it is "I am wrong". I just looked up the drivers side mount through Honda and the mount is the same for the 92 Prelude S (I hope that's the model you have) and the H22 so you will be fine using all your stock mounts and can save some money.
edit: I checked all the mounts and they are the same between models, so your golden. No need to worry about mounts.
