I got my alignment done today and the mechanic was telling me that my Civic's caster is pre-set from the factory and there is pretty much nothing you can or need to do to it. He adjusted the camber and toe.....

Caster = Nope.
If looking at the side of the car slide the wheel forward or back while keeping the top connected in the same spot.

Seriously, I have no idea what you are saying. It sounds like that would be rolling or turning the wheel. Anyhow, caster = nope is enough
Thanks!
While looking at the car from the side imagine that the axle or center of the wheel (pivot point) is on top of the wheel instead of the middle and 'rotate' from there. I think that's what he was trying to explain.
If you measure the angle of a line between the upper and lower balljoints (looking at the wheel from the side of the vehicle) you will be measuring caster- pull the upper ball joint back (towards the rear of the car) and caster becomes more positive. You can adjust caster with a frame puller on newer hondas- older models had adjustable radius rods.
