Type R head Rebuild Question
I am about to rebuild the head on my 2000 FBP ITR. It has dc 4-2-1 header, aem cold air, and T1R Cat back exhaust. My question is If i put skunk 2 i/e valves, skunk2 valve springs and skunk 2 titanium retainers in my head what kind of power gains could i expect? and what rpms could i handle safely with that setup. I do plan on adding cams, and intake manifold in about 1 year but i plan on driving it in meantime. I havent bought any parts yet but will be late this week, i am open to suggestions.

Why do you feel you need to rebuild your head?

None, those things are more like insurance parts rather than power mods. If they are flat faced valves then you may gain a slight bump in compression.

Depends on where they bind. The real question is what rpm will the cam you choose make power? No need to rev the car higher if you aren't making power up there.

May I suggest you use the search button to research cams & valvetrains before making your purchase. I'd also suggest you maybe consider upgrading your header and purchase some engine management before buying cams. Several guys have been able to produce 190+ whp with OEM ITR cams. Spend your money wisely!
