Default B16 VS GSR oil pump 4 LS/Vtec??

Doing an LS/Vtec and I need an upgraded oil pump.

I already have a B16 oil pump, is it the same pump as a GS-R's oil pump ? Or should I definitely go with a GS-R for the LS/Vtec ?
Am I correct in that the B20 oil pump=GSR oil pump ?

Am also going turbo on the same motor.

B20BorZ/B18C/B18C5 are the same. Definately use the gsr pump. Also, if you use the vtec water pump, you'll need a B18C timing belt, B16A is too short. And if you use the non vtec waterpump, use the LS/B20 timing belt.

What about the B16a oil pump, is it same spec as other Vtec pumps ?

Hmm I was unaware of these differences. So I cannot put a "R" oil pump on my b16a block? I didnt know that there was a difference.. thanks for any help. The reason I was saying this is because I can get a Type R oil pump cheaper than any other honda oil pump.. saving money helps.

You can use the type R pump, and it'll flow more oil than the B16A. The external dimensions are the same. Any Bseries pump will fit any Bseries engine. The difference is in the gears and relief spring tension.

True, I will keep an eye out for you. Thanks tho !
A couple of questions tho...

Why is is that the B16a, a vtec motor, would flow less fluid than the B18B water pump ? And with that, why would Honda make the GSR motor flow the same as the LS motor (water pump) ?

I went to a Honda dealer the other day and they told me that the B18B1, B18C1 and B20 oil pumps were all the same part number... I assumed this was true due to the source of the info.

Anyone ?

all pumps rated at 6000rpm - now it makes more sense, nest pas???
think about the redlines on the motors these pumps come off, the typeR still has 2500rpm left to increase flow numbers before the limits of the pump are met, the LS pump only has 800 rpm before the pump has problems keeping up.
high reving turbo needs the better flowing pump, as to the part numbers, might be a way to save money, there should still be a difference if you order part and engine code.

Thanks for the info thus far Rtype an Rondigs... this info is like drugs... it's everywhere in your society, but the one time you need it, you can't find it !

I am currently going with a B20 oil pump (same as GSR) and a B16 water pump on the turbo LSVT (B16a/B18a). Good choices ?
