OT: Sport Compact Car-- Street Car Challenge
My friend with the Supra has been accepted in this years SCC Street Car Challenge. I think this months issue should have all of the qualifying cars in it. He said he is gonna be number 66--whatever that means, I guess contestant #66.
Just thought it would be cool to see him make it to the finals.
He has last years video on tape. If you guys didnt see it you need to check out the Gross Display of Horsepower test with the dual turbo engined Hyndai Tiburon. That thing did crazy *** donuts--kinda spun like a top....
Anyway, I think this is the pic they are gonna use for the magazine. I took this picture last Thurs night at ATCO (sorry shitty sony digicam). He ran a best of 12.2 @ 124 mph !! Holy crap 124 mph!!!!! This was on 19" street tires on low boost of 15 psi!

That supra is fast. I was there when it ran that 12.2. I was with my boy with the blue datsun 200sx with the small block in it. If i knew you was there I would of said hi.
June.
June.
I have seen totally stock supra's with just BPU, right head light off, on stock wheels, do 12.6. Damn, 1200 dollars worth of mods and pulling 12.6!!! I gotta get myself one of those.

His mods are as follows: Could be more, this is off the top of my head

Greddy IC and hard piping
Greddy WG
HKS SSBOV, or was it the Race?
HKS EZ EBC
HKS VPC
HKS Fuel rail with either HKS or Greddy 720 injectors
Dual stock intank pumps
Race fuel system (ss lines, fittings, AN)
Weldon FPR
Brand new stock Toyota 2JZ short block
Mild head work (performed by same guy that is doing Bullish's new Solara race cars)
HKS exhaust cam gear
Fluidyne radiator
3.5" Apex cat back with test pipe
Stock clutch
Automatic rear ring and pinion (higher gear ratio)
Numerous gauges
Eibach all around with KYB shock up front and stock dampers on back
Slotted rotors
19" Dronell 3 piece wheels
Umm thats all I can think of now... I just got off the phone with him and he just ordered his 17" track wheels with BFgoodrich ET streets.
He should have easy 10 time slips with traction. He almost lost it last week one time when he hit 3rd and had the car sideways a good bit.
Everyone be sure to vote for him to be in this years Street Car Challenge. Look in SCC's for details on how to!

Guess what guys.
He made it!! He is going to be in this years Ultimate Street Car Challenge!!
Now for the fun part. Getting the car to California from Pa. I suggested we rent an RV and trailor and drive across the country. Hmm, 2 weeks total time??
Couple things changed on his car. Guess you'll either have to pick up the issue or buy the video. Nah, you know I will be there snappin pix and hopefully taking some footage with a digital vidcam.
Well, he wanted to thank anyone who may have voted for him on this site

When you have a huge turbo like that getting high hp #'s isnt the hard part its putting that power to the ground actually. I remember seeing 1000hp supra's running 12's. When the turbo fully spools there is like a 400hp jump within 1000 rpms.
No offense but how does a supra like that qualify for the ULTIMATE street car challenge when the walser and SP supra's are running high 9's at over a buck fifty??? Is it just because you have to be chosen and these cars aren't known. I dont read any car mags, so how does it work?

Who cares about Supras at all??? If you can afford one, I mean really afford it, it's no big deal that you can spend tons of money on them and make them super fast.
Now fast Hondas....cars that were NEVER meant to be fast....that's impressive
Long live HT!
