Default Placing tweeters, need help with placement/interior work

I have a 92 Accord EX 4 door. I bought two pair of Infinity Kappy 60.7cs component systems, one for the front and one for the back. I have run into a few problems. First of all, I am planning on placing the tweeter on the driver's side to the right of the handle/power lock assembly, and on the left side of the same assembly for the passenger's side door. However, I have never taken the door panels off and am not sure if I can just drill right through or if I will hit something there. I would like to gather as much info as possible before I get started (I have little time to do it). My second problem is where to place the tweeters in the back. I want to put them on the rear pillars, but I'm afraid of them being right next to the ear of my passengers. That would be way too loud to place right next to their ears. I would put them on the rear deck, but I have NO idea how to remove that felt or whatever on the back deck in order to drill through it to make a hole for the tweeters. I am looking for advice from people who have previously installed tweeters in the front and ESPECIALLY the rear of the 92 (or any of the same interior) accords, and have experience. Thanks in advance!

Popping off your door interior is no big deal. Just do it carefully so you don't break anything. I would not recommend putting tweeters next to the handles. That's where I put mine. I have the Infinity Kappa Perfects and the highs are right in my ear, so I have to jack up the lower frequencies on my equalizer and turn down the highs to balance it. For the perfects you can mount the tweeters with the woofers. I would try that instead.

I installed mine in the door panel to the left of the handle (5th gen). I simply drilled a hole out using a hole saw. Definitely take the panel off before you drill. As for sound quality of that placement, i am not sure. I have 6x9s on my rear deck that tend to over power the front so i generally leave the fade towards the front a little and it sounds pretty good. As for the rear deck, I am not sure what I would do there.

You really don't need a component set for the rear. The separate tweeters will be overkill. 1 set of tweeters in the front is all you will ever need, unless you want so much highs that your ears bleed. A simple set of coaxial speakers for the rear is all you would need.

Besides, there's really no good place to install tweeters in the rear, unless you cut up the rear deck. Even then, the sound will reflect off the rear window and will still be overpowering.

It doesn't matter for the back deck anyway. I admit that 1) the highs are going to be too much with two sets of components and 2) there is no good place to put tweeters in the back seat. I am selling the 6.5 component set and using the money for a pair of Infinity Kappa 693.7i 6x9's (or, if you have a suggestion for an even better pair of 6x9's I'm open to it). I have heard some great things about those Infinity's though. I am selling my 6.5's on ebay. Check out the auction here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISA...&rd=1

I switched to a new setup last summer where I only run a front stage and no rear fill...I've noticed that my imaging is much better than previous setups with rear speakers. If you have enough power to put on the fronts, I think you won't miss the rear speakers at all...I know I haven't.

^^^ I agree.

I have the rear speakers on my car nearly turned off. Passengers in my back seat can barely hear them. I like it better that way...
