7700 rpm???WTF
OK my car is only reving to 7700 rpm........why would it be doing that???
i have a 91 crx dx w/ b16a 0bd0 and im using a pw0, msd digital 6 box w/ rev limit is set at 8200. i also tried reving it after disconecting the msd and its the same.
when its not at normal temp. it revs up only to 7200 then later only to 7700 rpm
i barley did the swap also and all wires are correct and i also tried a diff. distributor. and comp.
What do you think????

its either we do or dont, theres no room for an opinion.

mines the same way..the reason is simple...you have an obd0 pr3....oh and its form an automatic tranny too...did i mention you also have a speed cut which wont let you go past 120, and your cams are the mildest vtec cams...the solution is simple...chip your ecu.. and get either sirII or gsr cams...good luck
it idles at 7700 or it just hits its rev limit at 7700? if it idles. then you have the tps wiring back words. if its stops at 7700 (y woul dyou go this far?) then you need to chip your ecu.

are you going by what the stock tach is telling you, they get kind of inaccurate up top. you might be hitting 8200 but its only reading 7700. happens to a lot of people.
there are some guys on here that have the stock and aftermarket tach and report their stock one being of by as much as 500 rpms up top.
hook up an aftermarket one and test it out.

i hooked up my vafc and it goes between 76-7700 rpm
so are you saying that my car only goes up to 7700rpm?</TD></TR></TABLE>
do you have aftermaket cams? if so then i can see y you want to hit these numbers. but if you have stock cams then i would want to go that high, cause you end up loosing power after a certin point with stock cams. honda put a rev limiter there for a reason.

keep in mind the stock tach can be very inaccurate i know mine is i have a chipped ecu with a 7500 rev limit and my tack will barley hit 7k before ignition cuts off but i know im hitting 7500 so i just kinda go by ear
i would also get rid of that worthless msd and stop using the vafc and just get the ecu chipped its 100x better and the car will run better guaranteed and its cheaper than the msd and vafc
also a better set of cams really help those obd0 b16a's

well if it is cheaper i wouldnt know since i already have it.
but are you saying that all b16's dont rev up to 8200??
i thought that they all do.
i do have a set of type R cams and set of skunk 2 cam gears......will that help me wrap up higher?

yes and no...what im sayin is that obd0 cams are the mildest of the b16 cams...the one wit the most profile is i believe sirII..hence why jdm obd1 & 2 make 10 more hp than the og Sir's 170...i just switched mine out to gsr cams..the only diff i got was 8 hp on the dyno..but considering i got for free and put em in myself...it was a good deal..and by the way pr3 will only rev to about 7700..its not the tach thats at fault its the ecu...

you can get a 2 step for cheap http://www.phearable.net... when he chippes the ecu he can add a 2 step launch control and he can also add a check engine light shift light for your inaccurate stock tach
since you live in kissimee you can even drive out to his shop and pick it up... its a long drive from kissimee but if you have a day off and nothing better to do itll save on shipping

I wouldn't be concerned with power loss but more so of floating valves. Up the valve springs to type R or equivalent too.
but you won't gain power up that high without the correct cams.
