Knock sensor

why do people unplug their knock sensor? i mean it doesnt make your car faster does it? what does it do?

it detects knocks within the engine. Produced by pre-detonation within the cylinders.

I have never heard of just unplugging it but you can have it disabled in your ecu. I believe unplugging it will make your ecu run a different fuel mapping which will make you loose hp.
