My brother recently bought this "air supercharger" doohicky, which is for your intake. I still have my stock box filter on my '96 teg, and the air supercharger goes right behind the filter. It's like a fan, and it's supposedly very good. But if you guys can shed some light on this, it would be appreciated.

It's simple thermodynamics. To surpercharge a vehicle, you must perform work on the intake air to compress it. The device you mentioned has no power supply to supply the work and is therefore a parasitic blockage for the fluid flow. The device is crap.

Did he do any kind of research before buying it?

And by your brother, do you mean "you"?

 

I saw an article on cheap car gimmicks (i think in popular science) that showed it reduces power/reduces gas mileage

 

 

wow... well thanks for the input, I'll inform him, and no... by my brother I don't mean "me". I woke up this morning... and he showed it to me. So I was like.. aight... let's give it a shot.
