Default A/C issue: 96 EK HB w/ GSR

OK, I'm not sure if this is normal because this is the first honda i've ever owned with a/c (haha i know...) When i'm driving with the a/c on i can feel the a/c cycle on and off and it does it constantly. probably like 2 or 3 times every mile or 2. The a/c blows pretty cold but i think it could be colder.

I went to have it serviced because the condenser is new and i figured the problem was due to low coolent. They filled it up and said it was good to go, but it still does this....

The car is a 96 ek hatchback with a GSR.

any help is appriciated!

could either be your compressor or blower motor. if you think it could be colder, could either need a recharge or needs a new compressor.

I charged it the other day. Man imma be pissed if its either one of those. It blows hard though so i dont think its the blower motor....

The ac isnt cycling on and off, the fan on the condenser is...which is normal.
Run the car with the ac on @ idle and watch it happen.

I can FEEL it cycle on and off. Like i am sitting there pushing the a/c button on and off. I doubt its the fan that is causing this.

Yea, I know the fan goes on and off. But I doubt thats the reason why it cycles on and off. anybody else have any ideas?

common reason for cycling is low refridgerant pressure, probably should find a gauge or something and make sure it's working. Generally when it's running the pressure drops, and in your case too much causing the compressor to shut off, then after it shuts off, pressure rises so the pump starts again, rinse and repeat.

MAN THERE ARE SOME STUPID PEOPLE POSTING DUMBASS IDEAS! FIRST OF ALL DID YOU KEEP THE CIVIC COMPRESSOR OR DID YOU USE THE GSR? I JUST RECENTLY HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE GSR COMPRESSOR WAS TOO POWERFULL FOR THE SMALLER CONDENSER. ALSO IT WILL ALSO CYCLE LIKE THAT IS THE SYSTEM IS OVERFULL. DID THE SHOP INSTALL DYE INTO THE SYSTEM? THESE ARE THE PRESSURES ON MY SYSTEM HIGH SIDE WAS @200 PSI AND THE LOW SIDE WAS @30 PSI AND IT COOLS TO 42 DEGREES. THE ONLY WAY TO CHECK IT IS TO HAVE A SET OF PROFESSSIONAL A/C GAUGES I THINK MINE COST ABOUT 200 BUCKS FROM MATCO TOOLS. A GOOD START IT TO GET A THERMOMETER AND SEE HOW COOL IT IS ACTUALLY GETTING. THEN YOU CAN START TO ELIMINATE PROBLEMS LIKE THE PRESSURE SWITCH AND SO ON.

I Note sure which compresor was used. I'd assume the stock Dserres since they are chassis specific from what i know. There was no dye installed because i didnt think there were any leaks I guess i should of done it though. I dont have professional gauges so i really cant check the pressure but i will get a thermometer and see what its blowing and go from there....
